Dominic " Junie" Pauline

Dominic “Junie” Pauline passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at the age of 86, at Windsor House in Canfield, Ohio. He was born in Youngstown on June 1, 1939, one of three children born to the late Dominic and Nellie (Sylvester) Pauline and was a lifelong Youngstown area resident.

Dominic graduated from Rayen High School in 1957. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Cookie” Pauline, on July 14, 1962, and they remained happily married for over 63 years.

He worked as a salesman in the wholesale floral industry for over 55 years, retiring in 2018 from Youngstown Plant and Flower. In addition, he regularly balanced multiple part-time jobs in support of his family. He was loyal, hard-working, and detail oriented. He always gave his very best and never complained.

He was a long-time member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. He was private in all matters of faith, but he prayed regularly and kept a special wallet containing his rosary beads and prayer cards close by.

Dominic was a passionate man with a million-dollar smile. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was deeply devoted to his family. He was a classic do-it-yourselfer who would not hesitate to take on any type of maintenance or project work around the house. He especially loved doing landscaping work, taking great pride in the appearance of his yard and lawn.

He worked hard but also took time to relax and enjoy life. He was an avid golfer and a member of multiple area golf leagues over the years. He served as treasurer of Saint Anthony’s Golf League for over a decade. He also golfed for many years with a large group of friends at Old Avalon Golf Course on Sundays. He was a long-time league bowler at North Side Lanes in Youngstown and was also a member of a local Morra club several years later in life. He enjoyed following all the Cleveland professional sports teams and loved watching and listening to their broadcasts. He regularly attended sporting events in which his children and grandchildren participated.

He thoroughly enjoyed the many summer trips to Myrtle Beach with his family and loved the occasional weekend trips to Mountaineer Casino with his wife and close friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Denise (John) Felt; and his sons, Dominic (Ann) Pauline and Michael (Tracy) Pauline. Also surviving is his sister, Anita Castronova. His cherished grandchildren are Danielle (Dustin) Lindeman, Jennifer (Dominic) Lariccia, Stacey (Zach) Mertens, Lindsay Pauline, Giada Pauline, and Michael Pauline, and his great-grandchildren, Emerson, Hudson, Lorenzo, Ellie, and Luca.

Besides his parents, Dominic was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cookie, and his sister, Phyllis Rae Pallante.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the administrative staff and caregivers at Windsor House Canfield, Harmony Hospice, The Inn at Poland Way, and First Light Home Care for their kindness, patience, and comforting care. 

Family and friends may call on Sunday February 8, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman. 

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Charles Rooney, O.P., at 10:00 a.m.  on Monday February 9, 2026, at Saint Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave. Youngstown. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dominic’s name to Every Dog Matters Rescue or Angels for Animals.
